A few quick tips to help you better design a space:
- Put collections (like items) together. Spreading them around the room will not do them justice and makes for a congested appearance.
- Area rugs are always a good way to define a space or vignette.
- Hang Curtains from ceiling to floor (wider than the window. This will give the illusion of higher ceilings and larger windows.
- Always add a pop of color. Adding an item (ie: throw pillow, vase, books) in a bright color like red or orange (especially in a monochromatic room) can create a spark.
- Hang a curtain or piece of great fabric from ceiling to floor in a small hallway in front of a door. Your doorway will look bigger and the hallway will thank you.
- Put something fun and unusual in a bowl on your dinning table (ie: your sons matchbox cars, hockey pucks, old spoons). Fun way to create an interactive atmosphere.
